Job Summary
The Christian Education Director is a full-time, visionary leader responsible for overseeing all educational initiatives at Eastminster Presbyterian Church, spanning children, youth, and adult ministries. The Director will work closely with the GROW ministry team on educational programming and with the CONNECT ministry team on event planning and will manage the eventual hiring and supervision of a Youth Director to support youth ministry.
Key Responsibilities
1. Comprehensive Oversight of Educational Programs
- Children’s Ministry: Develop and expand a vibrant children’s program (birth-5th grade) designed to attract and engage families, incorporating creative, biblically based curricula and interactive activities. Integrate Christian Education planning with existing strong preschool program.
- Youth Ministry: Provide leadership and guidance for youth ministry; manage and mentor the eventual Youth Director to ensure effective program delivery and spiritual formation.
- Adult Education: Ensure adult education is supported with the proper curriculum, trained leadership, and engaging content that promotes spiritual growth and biblical literacy.
2. Programming
- Work alongside the GROW ministry teams to organize and oversee the Nursery Care, Children’s Bible Study, and Youth Study.
- Coordinate with CONNECT ministry team to plan programming for Wednesday night “The Gathering.”
- Recruit and coordinate volunteers. Work in conjunction with P&A Committee to recruit paid nursery staff. Work in association with the staff team as needed for coordination of nursery staff coverage
- Ensure seamless communication and engagement with families attending the program.
- Oversee adult studies.
3. Nursery Staffing & Oversight
- Ensure nursery staffing is in place for all scheduled worship services and special events.
- Develop and maintain a rotational schedule for nursery workers and Kids Connect volunteers.
- Train and support nursery workers to create a safe, loving, and welcoming environment.
4. Program Development & Integration
- Design, implement, and evaluate holistic Christian education programs for all age groups.
- Collaborate with the GROW ministry team to ensure educational programming aligns with the church’s mission and goals.
- Work with the CONNECT ministry team on event planning to integrate Christian education into church-wide activities.
- Coordinate with the preschool director and staff to identify opportunities to welcome families that already have a relationship with Eastminster Preschool.
- Develop special programs, retreats, and service opportunities that foster faith development and community engagement.
5. Communication & Outreach
- Maintain consistent communication with families through social media, emails, and direct outreach.
- Develop promotional materials and advertise events and programs via the church website, social media, and newsletters.
6. Staff and Volunteer Leadership & Management
- Lead and inspire the Christian education team, including direct supervision of the Youth Director once the position is filled.
- Conduct regular team meetings, training sessions, and performance evaluations to ensure the effective delivery of all educational initiatives.
- Build and grow a strong team of volunteers for children and youth programs through leadership of GROW ministry team.
- Mentor educators and ministry volunteers, ensuring alignment with the church’s mission and educational standards.
7. Administrative & Operational Duties
- Manage the Christian education budget, ensuring efficient allocation of resources across all programs.
- Oversee scheduling, facility use, and logistical arrangements for educational activities, events, and special programming.
- Maintain accurate records of program participation, feedback, and performance metrics to continually improve ministry effectiveness.
- Ensure compliance with church policies, denominational guidelines, and applicable regulations, especially regarding safety and program management. Review and update policies as needed.
Qualifications
- Educational Background & Experience:
o Bachelor’s degree required.
o Experience in Christian education, curriculum development, or a similar field preferred.
- Spiritual & Theological Competence:
o Deep commitment to the Christian faith, with a thorough understanding of Presbyterian doctrine and practices.
o Ability to design and deliver biblically sound educational content for diverse age groups.
- Organizational & Interpersonal Skills:
o Excellent communication, organizational, and interpersonal abilities.
o Strong administrative skills, including budget management and program evaluation.
o Ability to work collaboratively with church staff, volunteers, and the GROW and CONNECT ministry teams.

Work Environment
