Position Overview:
We are a growing chocolate manufacturing company seeking an experienced and strategic Senior Procurement and Logistics Manager to oversee our inventory management, supplier relations, warehouse operations, logistics, and production alignment. This role is crucial to ensuring smooth end-to-end supply chain operations, from raw material procurement to finished goods distribution. The ideal candidate is process-driven, analytical, and solutions-oriented with experience working in small to mid-market companies positioned for growth.
This is a full-time, exempt, supervisory position based out of our Richmond, California Facility.
What You’ll Do:
1. Inventory Management
- Oversee the entire inventory cycle, from material procurement to work-in-progress (WIP) tracking and finished goods storage.
- Ensure supply chain alignment with production needs, balancing quantity, timing, and cost efficiencies.
- Collaborate with production and warehouse teams to coordinate material flow, reducing waste and ensuring operational efficiency.
- Implement tracking systems to monitor inventory movement, forecast demand, and adjust procurement accordingly.
2. Vendor & Supplier Management
- Develop and maintain relationships with suppliers, ensuring optimal minimum order quantities (MOQs) and cost efficiencies.
- Conduct cost negotiations and vendor assessments to maintain quality and financial sustainability.
- Partner with Quality Assurance (QA) to ensure supplier compliance with contractual agreements, food safety standards, and ethical sourcing practices.
3. Warehouse & Logistics Oversight
- Manage warehouse operations, ensuring efficient storage organization, order fulfillment, and stock accuracy.
- Oversee 3PL (third-party logistics) partnerships, ensuring timely and cost-effective delivery of goods.
- Optimize truck and pallet utilization for maximum efficiency, balancing business needs with logistics feasibility.
- Plan logistics around seasonality, production timing, and customer requirements, ensuring smooth distribution.
- Develop and implement processes and tools, including ERP systems and digital tracking solutions.
4. Strategic Initiatives & Process Improvement
- Implement data-driven decision-making, leveraging real-time tracking and analytics for process optimization.
- Establish a feedback loop for continuous process improvement, ensuring alignment with company goals.
- Lead and mentor a small but dynamic team, fostering a high-performance and problem-solving culture.
- Support cross-functional collaboration with finance, sales, and production teams to drive operational efficiency.
Physical Requirements:
- Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working at a computer
- Occasional bending, twisting, power-gripping, stooping required
- May lift up to 25 pounds
What You Bring:
- 5 years in procurement, supply chain, or logistics within manufacturing (food or confectionery preferred)
- Experience in small to mid-market companies, ideally those experiencing growth and process implementation
- Proven ability to develop scalable procurement and logistics processes
- Hands-on experience in vendor negotiations, cost control, and contract management
- Strong knowledge of SPS, EDI systems, and ERP platforms (or experience with future implementation)
- Project Management & Analytics: Ability to manage complex supply chain projects and analyze key metrics
- Process & Data-Driven: Strong analytical mindset with experience in scenario modeling and forecasting
- Flexibility & Nimbleness: Balancing short-term needs with long-term strategy
- Leadership & Navigation: Ability to guide teams through change, process improvements, and growth
- Effective Communication: Skilled in collaborating across departments, suppliers, and logistics partners
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment, wearing multiple hats as needed

Compensation Range: $160,000 - $170,000
