Instrument and Controls Technician
Easton Utilities is currently seeking to fill the position of Instrument and Controls Technician II/III
JOB OBJECTIVE: Under minimal supervision, work on the design, installation, programming, and testing of new electrical utility installations. Support and maintain existing electrical and control-type equipment at power plants, substations, EUC facilities, and the Town of Easton. This is a full-time, non-exempt position with on-call requirements.
JOB REQUIREMENTS:
For placement at Instrument and Controls Technician II:
- Thorough knowledge of electricity, and Microsoft Office products.
- Must possess good communication skills to effectively work with internal and external departmental customers.
- Must have a thorough knowledge of logic functions, computer programing, such as C , communication protocols, such as Modbus, and various software platforms like Modicon for PLCs.
- Must know how to use electrical tools such as digital multimeters, power supplies, and frequency generators.
- Must be able to install, troubleshoot, and repair single-phase and three-phase electrical motors, motor control circuits, lighting circuits, and other associated electrical equipment.
- Must be able to read electrical schematics, prints, three-phase diagrams, wiring diagrams, and one-line diagrams.
- Must be available as needed to provide technical support during electrical outages, generator startups, and weather-related emergencies.
- Must know all electrical equipment rated 72.5KV and below.
- Must know NESC, NETA, and NFPA codes and standards.
- Must always wear proper PPE.
- Must have a valid driver’s license.
- Must maintain regular, and reliable attendance.
- Must be part of an on-call rotation.
EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS: Must have a high school diploma or equivalent. Four (4) years of experience in power plant and/or electric system. Associate in applied science (AAS) in electrical technology operations preferred and can be substituted year for year for the required experience.
For placement at Instrument and Controls Technician III:
- In addition to the requirements for Instrument and Controls Technician II;
- Minimum seven (7) years of experience in power plant and/or electric system. Associate in applied science (AAS) in electrical technology operations preferred and can be substituted year for year for the required experience.
