Summary
- Accountable for mechanical reliability maintenance systems and programs that establish world-class maintenance skills and procedures, improving overall reliability at the facility.
- Lead and promote safe operations and practices, including housekeeping and cleanliness, while continuously improving reliability and quality.
- Manage project and repair work to achieve Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) for manufacturing and P&L commitments.
- Collaborate with maintenance, manufacturing, purchasing, and distribution teams to enhance reliability and ensure timely delivery of finished goods.
- Provide strategic vision and leadership for maintenance and operations as part of the bigger picture.
Accountabilities
Safety
- Ensure all work performed by internal and external resources follows safety policies and results in an incident-free work environment.
- Evaluate projects before installation to prevent safety hazards during execution or operational changes.
Legal and Compliance
- Ensure all work complies with applicable federal, state, and local regulations and codes.
- Verify that all necessary professional certifications and approvals are obtained before project execution.
- Confirm that all engaged contractors hold the required certifications for their assigned tasks.
Management and Engineering
- Oversee project and reliability maintenance activities, ensuring safety, compliance, quality, productivity, and cost efficiency.
- Lead continuous improvement initiatives in maintenance and engineering aligned with KPI and P&L goals.
- Manage teams to foster collaboration, teamwork, and professional development.
- Contribute to annual project and repair budget forecasts, approve expenditures, and monitor budget variances.
- Work with Purchasing to optimize repair costs.
- Manage repairs and projects to meet financial objectives.
- Support environmental stewardship while enhancing maintenance and operational machinery knowledge.
- Provide training, develop team members, and contribute to succession planning.
Qualifications, Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Ability to manage capital projects efficiently, ensuring timely completion within budget.
- Strong understanding of internal customer needs, KPIs, and collaboration with Purchasing for inventory management.
- Knowledge and application of maintenance reliability principles.
- Effective leadership, fostering teamwork and motivation.
- Ability to handle multiple priorities and meet challenging deadlines.
- Strong sense of urgency and ownership.
- Capacity to investigate and implement new systems for operational efficiency.
- Lean Six Sigma experience preferred.
Education and Experience
- B.S. degree in engineering or a related field.
- Minimum of 10 years of experience in maintenance leadership and engineering roles.
- Proven engineering experience with demonstrated leadership skills.
- Ability to develop individuals and teams both technically and managerially in a growing business.
- Self-starter with strong motivation and excellent communication skills.
