Summary
The Polisher is responsible for the set up and operation of grinding and polishing equipment and other related tools to remove excess material or burrs from surfaces, profile edges or corners, and bring surface to print polish specifications on metal or plastic work pieces.
Responsibilities:
- Understand, support and follow the Corporate Vision, Mission & Values Statements.
- Support company goals and objectives.
- Understand, follow and support the policies, procedures, QSR, FDA, ISO, IEC, UL, and CE regulations.
- Operate powered grinders, polishers, and buffers to obtain product shape and finish
- Select abrasive belt or wheel according to grain size, type of finish specified, product being polished, or amount of metal to be removed, using knowledge of polishing operations and abrasives.
- Set up, operate, or tend grinding and related tools that remove excess material or burrs from surfaces, sharpen edges or corners, or buff, hone, or polish metal or plastic work pieces.
- Attach wheel or belt to drive mechanism.
- Start polisher and manipulates work piece against abrasive wheel to remove metal and surface defects.
- Examine part for acceptability of finish.
Physical Requirements:
- The duties of this job require the employee to stand and to use hands to manipulate small/large objects and tools for long periods of time.
- The employee is required to walk and occasionally to lift 50 pounds during the normal course of work.
- Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision.
