We are seeking an HPC (High-Performance Computing) / Linux Administrator to join our client’s team—a prestigious, independent biomedical research institute focused on advancing human biology and disease research to drive impactful scientific discoveries.

Position Overview:
The HPC/Linux Administrator will support the IT team in managing the Institute’s highly collaborative scientific computing environment. This role involves maintaining and optimizing the security, performance, and integrity of Linux-based systems. Responsibilities include installing, configuring, troubleshooting, and ensuring the reliability and efficiency of the computing infrastructure.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage the Institute’s centralized computing cluster and associated storage systems.
- Configure systems in compliance with security best practices.
- Perform and validate system backups and monitoring.
- Apply system and application patches, manage software packages, and maintain third-party applications.
- Troubleshoot hardware and software issues while providing user support.
- Configure and maintain Linux servers and workstations, including lab environments.
- Perform additional duties as required.
Qualifications & Experience:
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in IT, Network Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related technical field preferred.
- Experience:
- 3 years of professional experience with Red Hat/CentOS or Ubuntu.
- Familiarity with life science informatics applications and environments.
- Experience with the following is preferred:
- Virtualization & Container Technologies: VMware, Apptainer, Docker, KVM.
- Cluster Management: Slurm preferred.
- Network-Attached Storage (NAS): Configuration and maintenance.
- Automation: Shell scripting, Python.
- Web Server Deployment & Maintenance: Apache, Nginx.
- Database Maintenance: MySQL/MariaDB.
Skills & Abilities:
- Strong oral and written communication skills.
- Ability to document, track, and implement requirements, policies, and procedures.
- Collaborative team player with a proactive, problem-solving mindset.
- Capable of lifting 25 lbs (e.g., racking servers, storage devices, etc.).
