— QUALIFICATIONS —
- Must be at least eighteen years old and have a minimum of high school education or GED.
- Preferred minimum of two years of work experience as a caregiver (including private care, homecare agencies, assisted living facilities, nursing homes, hospitals, etc.)
- Must display good emotional health and be able to perform basic physical actions required for Caregiving, such as standing, bending, stooping, etc.
- Must be able to read, follow written and verbal instructions, and document all care given.
- Must have at least two (2) references from previous employers (not family members).
- Must meet all agency requirements, including but not limited to passing a criminal background check, and social security number verification.
- Should possess and maintain current certification in cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR).
- Should demonstrate flexibility in acceptance of assignments and a cooperative attitude toward providing services.
General Duties and Responsibilities:
1. Assist participant in all activities of daily living/hygiene assistance and changing clothes if needed.
2. Maintain knowledge of diet and allergies. Assist participant with eating when necessary.
3. Assists participants with transferring and ambulation.
4. Assist participant with toileting.
5. Ability and willingness to perform cleaning tasks as assigned.
6. Meets the safety needs of the participant and uses equipment safely and properly.
7. Document and update records accurately and carry out all assignments as requested.
8. Ability to lead activities individually and in large group settings and do so with a positive and engaging attitude.
9. Does not receive or write orders from a physician.
10. Notifies management of any acute or pertinent changes in participant’s condition.
11. Does not administer medications, pre-fill insulin syringes, or perform any other medical procedures.
12. Does not perform any sterile or intravenous procedures.
13. Does not perform procedures requiring the knowledge, training, and skill of a Licensed Nurse.
14. Maintains confidentiality regarding the participant and any family/caregivers.
15. Performs all skills and procedures competently and within the regulations and licensure laws of the state, Mt. Hood Adult Day Center policies, and other applicable federal and state laws.
