OVERVIEW OF POSITION:

The Clinical Director is responsible for overseeing and managing the organization's clinical department. This role includes providing clinical guidance and support to staff members, facilitating training initiatives, and ensuring the delivery of high-quality care. The Clinical Director supervises clinical and peer support staff, and collaborates with interdisciplinary team members to address and resolve patient concerns effectively.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

· Provide clinical supervision and guidance, mentorship, and support to staff, ensuring adherence to evidence-based practices.

· Assist clinical staff in the development of counseling knowledge and skills by identifying learning needs, determining counselor strengths, promoting self-awareness, and transmitting knowledge for practical use and professional growth.

· Provide case consultation and review to monitor performance of counselors and be sure to recognize and address counselor impairment.

· Provide support, build counselor morale, assess strengths and needs, suggest varying clinical approaches, model, cheerlead, and work to prevent burnout.

· Ensure clinical staff adheres to all policies and procedures of Harbortown and the appropriate Ethical Codes related to the counseling profession.

· Provides individual and group counseling, and discharge planning as appropriately required;

· Provides pre-screening, assessment and substance abuse diagnosis utilizing DSM-V criteria that drives the course of treatment planning;

· Knowledgeable of DSM-V and ASAM Placement Criteria related to substance abuse disorders;

· Prepares patient treatment plans and reviews goals & objectives identified in the treatment plan within designated time frames and in accordance with client’s needs;

· Treats all patients similarly, generally able to individualize counseling strategies to meet the unique characteristics of the patient;

· Compiles reports and maintains progress notes in an accurate and timely manner in accordance with regulations;

· Participates in weekly staff meetings and case conferences;

· Attends workshops, conferences, online training and staff development training, seminars on current practices as directed by Supervisor to acquire continuing education in the appropriate field;

· Maintains cooperative relationships with all referral sources and community resources;

· Participates in collaborative community efforts;

· Aware of and follows federal and state laws and agency guidelines regarding the confidentiality of client records;

· Undertakes related duties as assigned;

EDUCATION/TRAINING:

· Master’s degree or higher in a related field (e.g., Counseling, Social Work, Psychology)

· Current and valid licensure in the appropriate discipline (e.g., LPC, LMSW, LMFT, etc).

· CCS Certification by MCBAP or Certification as a CAADC, CADC by MCBAP, with understanding that CCS developmental plan in place to work towards CCS.

· Minimum of 5 years of clinical experience in behavioral health or substance use treatment, with at least 2 years in a leadership role. Have an equivalent combination of experience and knowledge and training with would meet the principle responsibilities.

· Knowledge of opioid treatment programs, including medication-assisted treatment (MAT) and therapeutic interventions.

· Knowledge and ability to use computer and software, including Microsoft Office and database management.
