What are the responsibilities and job description for the Community Support Specialist with CDCA position at Eastway Behavioral Healthcare?
Eastway is currently looking for a Community Support Specialist with a CDCA license to participate in an interdisciplinary team of psychiatrist, nurse, therapist, vocational specialist, housing coordinator, and other community support specialists in support of the recovery and housing stability of persons with severe mental health issues.
Duties:
Actively works with clients who have limited awareness of illness and poor adherence to treatment regimes. Works to identify the underlying barriers to treatment adherence, i.e., lack of transportation, loss of entitlements, and lack of understanding of medications.
Educates family members about mental illness and Drug and alcohol Addiction and actively works with family members to resolve issues effecting families, and utilizes family members as a resource in achieving positive outcomes with the client.
Runs group and individual sessions with clients treating for substance abuse.
Develops Individual Recovery Plans which include assertive interventions that directly target the improvement of the client's activities of daily living and address the recovery support services involved in mental health and alcohol and drug treatment.
Qualification:
CDCA licensure (Chemical Dependency Counselor Assistant) Candidates with preliminary CDCA don't qualify.
Bachelor’s degree in Social Work, Mental Health, Psychology, or a related field OR Associate’s degree with 3 years of experience.
Prior case worker/management experience preferred.
Valid driver’s license and proof of Auto insurance.
Must be 21 years of age or older
