What are the responsibilities and job description for the LPN-Licensed Practical Nurse position at Easy Living, Inc?
In accordance with Easy Living, Inc established policies and procedures, the Licensed Practical Nurse will provide clinical and administrative support in a medical facility under the direction and supervision of the Community RN/Professional Manager. The Licensed Practical Nurse is accountable for the delivery of patient care by utilizing the nursing process within the standards, policies, procedures, and guidelines of the organization. The nurse will also abide by regulations set forth by the Missouri Board of Nursing.
Essential Functions:
- Assist Community RN with assessments, exams and treatments.
- Documents patient care observations and activities according to professional standards and procedures.
- Thoroughly educates and explains procedures, treatments and medications to clients and staff according to professional standards and procedures.
- Assists in any emergency situations and directs Direct Support Professionals.
- Maintains confidentiality in keeping with current HIPAA guidelines.
- Performs basic medical procedures included in their scope of practice, as well as other tasks assigned by Professional Manager or Community RN.
- Maintain a clean and well stocked patient care area, observing asepsis techniques and other typical standards.
- Keeps all inventory records, logs; and maintains required daily, weekly and monthly formats.
- Aids in identifying methods of improving client care.
- Maintain a positive attitude.
- Assist Direct Support Professional with meal preparation, transferring/repositioning of clients, daily care (bathing, ADL’s, peri care), and any other task as needed.
- Nurses are expected to help on floor as much as possible, and to be involved in client care and interactions.
- Maintains current knowledge and skills in clinical practice, attends required in-services and staff meetings, and promotes professional growth.
- Performs other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
- Maintains clean, safe and well stocked nursing areas.
- Functions independently and assumes responsibility for actions in clinical procedures.
- Maintains current working knowledge of the Agency’s policies and procedures.
- Responsible for compliance with organizational integrity, through raising questions and promptly reporting actual or potential wrongdoing, abuse/neglect issues, medication error, or incidents involving clients.
- Participates in and coordinates with organizational process to collect and evaluate information about hazards and safety practices that are used to identify safety management issues. Adheres to established policies and procedures, which may include wearing of personal protective equipment.
- Participates in and fosters a performance improvement approach that includes both intra-departmental and inter-departmental activities.
- Lifting as needed/necessary.
