Job Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and hardworking Farm Laborer to join our agricultural team. The ideal candidate will have a passion for farming and a willingness to learn various aspects of farm operations. This role involves performing a variety of tasks that contribute to the overall productivity and maintenance of the farm. This position completes assigned special projects as well. Candidates should be prepared for physically demanding work in various weather conditions.
Responsibilities
- Daily barn chores to be done every morning and every evening
- Load all pigs into barn and all pigs out of barn on a tentative schedule of two and three quarter pig turns per calendar year
- Perform heavy lifting tasks as needed, including moving supplies and equipment.
- Engage in animal husbandry practices, caring for livestock and ensuring their well-being.
- Conduct basic repairs on equipment and machinery as required.
- Maintain proper barn ventilation at all sites
- Monitor overall health of pigs and communicate with Supervisoron what is happening within the facility
- Responsible to understand and troubleshoot alarm systems and calls and ensure a response is initiated for 100% of these calls
- Administer proper swine drug administration: mixing directions, quantity for injections and/or other medicinal applications
- Identify and execute timely euthanasia
- Flexibility in hours during health challenges and during pig load in and load out times
- Examine barn maintenance needs, communicate barn maintenance needs with Entity Owners, and execute regular maintenance on all finishing sites
- Complete and turn in all required paperwork – to include but not limited to MPCA Calendar, Barn Report, Timesheet, etc.
- Barn washing between turns
- Special projects as assigned
Requirements
- Previous experience in farming or agricultural work is preferred but not required.
- Mechanical knowledge is beneficial for equipment repair tasks.
- Ability to perform heavy lifting (up to 50 pounds) consistently throughout the day.
- Familiarity with swine care is a plus.
- Strong work ethic with a commitment to maintaining high standards of quality and safety.
- Willingness to learn new skills related to farming practices and equipment operation.
- Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions and adapt to changing tasks as needed.

Pay: $18.00 - $25.00 per hour
Expected hours: 40 – 60 per week
