Part Time Contemporary Worship Leader

The Following is a list of the responsibilities of the contemporary worship leader. Although this list may look intemidating to some it really is not. The hours worked each week will depend on your experience level but will be no more than 12 hours per week. Please note that the ability to play a guitar is a requirement of the position.

Praise and Worship Director

POSITION: Praise and Worship Director, part time, salaried position

MAIN GOAL: To provide visionary, passionate, Christ-centered, and competent leadership for the Praise Band as it leads the Contemporary Worship Service with worshipful, relevant, passionate, and Christ-centered music.

GENERAL REQUIREMENTS:

1. All staff of Eaton Methodist Church is part of the total Ministry Team and as such must have a personal relationship with Jesus Christ, a call to serve Him in the area of their position, and be able to articulate both.

2. All staff of Eaton are expected to be a “leader of leaders,” both spiritually and in ways related to their position (i.e.: music), and to be a model of “servant-leadership” in their practice of ministry.

3. Where applicable, all staff of Eaton Methodist Church are hired not only to fulfill a specific ministry function, but also to fulfill a ministry of multiplication through mobilizing and equipping others who have a related call to ministry.

4. All staff must demonstrate in the practice of their ministry support for and ownership of the Core Beliefs, Core Values, and Ministry Purpose of Eaton MC.

5. All staff of Eaton MC must demonstrate in the practice of their ministry the qualities of Godly Christian servants as outlined in Titus 1:7-9.

6. All music and worship staff must possess and articulate clearly a biblical theology of worship

Key Result Area # 1: Leadership and Administration

Supporting Goal: The worship director shall provide Christ-centered leadership for the contemporary worship celebration.

Performance Standards (This will have been satisfactorily performed when):

1. Recruit, train, and rehearse servant musicians and singers, educating them as to their role in leading people in worship.

2. Possess the ability to read music, (i.e. chord charts, lead sheets)

3. Lead a band of multi-instrumentalists including one or both of the following: acoustic guitar

4. Prayerfully select and prepare music for the worship service and special services as assigned by the pastor.

5. Effectively incorporate contemporary musical style.

6. Work with other church staff/volunteers to incorporate various types of visual arts in the worship experience.

7. Work closely with the multi-media team to ensure that all equipment is needed and working properly for the worship experience.

8. Facilitate weekly rehearsals to ensure that the worship team is prepared for leading a worship experience.

9. Provide song list to multi media team so that they can prepare the weekly slide show.

10. Create and deploy an order of worship in collaboration with the Pastor and the worship environment team.

11. Occasionally work with the Eaton Music Director to plan and deploy special worship experiences or events.

12. Attend and participate in the Worship Environment team meeting.

13. Set aside time for personal refreshment to prepare and be fully present for the Contemporary Worship Celebration.

SKILLS REQUIRED:

1. Specific Skills and Abilities Required:

· Musical skill / ability, such as vocal, instrumental, etc. Formal training or equivalent life experience.

· Broad familiarity with contemporary Christian music.

· Ability to lead praise and worship in a contemporary style and setting.

· Organized work habits or the ability to partner with a strategic assistant.

· Ability to arrange music and use related software effectively a plus.

· Ability to share faith with others personally and publicly.

· Ability to develop people in relating others to Christ through invitational witnessing.

· Commitment to and skills in team - based ministry leadership.

· Communication, relational and social skills.

· Ability to encourage and build others up for successful servant ministry.

· Spiritual and emotional stability and maturity.

ACCOUNTABILITY

The Worship Leader for the contemporary service is accountable to the Pastor, and to the SPRC of Eaton MC.

Job Type: Part-time

Pay: $7,000.00 per year

Expected hours: 5 – 12 per week
