Eaton’s Electrical division is currently seeking a Operations Excellence to join our team in Richmond, VA. The OPEX Manager leads the Operations Excellence function for the Richmond facility, reporting to the plant manager as a leadership team member. This role will own facility-wide capital project deployment, continuous improvement, cost-out and other operations excellence initiatives.

The expected annual salary range for this role is $108,749 - $159,499 a year.

What you’ll do :

Lead collaboratively across the facility leadership team and functions to create, align and execute strategic vision through Eaton Business System (EBS) tools..

Collaborate with functional leaders and Plant Manager to create, align & execute strategic vision using Eaton Business System tools

Lead a team of manufacturing 7 professional employees including manufacturing engineers, continuous improvement engineers, facilities technicians and project managers.

Foster an environment that promotes Eaton’s goals, philosophies, and encourages continuous improvement.

Lead implementation of Lean Manufacturing concepts and Lean tools throughout the enterprise, including continuous improvement framework (CIF) lean six sigma, value stream mapping, structured problem solving, root cause analysis, 5s , work instructions, etc.

Evaluate, analyze and improve operations and engineering processes using fundamentally sound manufacturing principles to ensure excellence in safety, efficiency, productivity, cost reduction and quality.

Lead facilities and operations maintenance programs through preventive maintenance, planned facilities maintenance, and management of facilities direct and contract personnel.

Direct capital improvement program across multiple manufacturing facilities including manufacturing equipment, facility enhancements and new product start-ups.

Foster a continuous improvement culture throughout the business by creating, leading and communicating opportunities for quality, productivity, flow and safety improvement.

Support new product development with manufacturing feasibility and industrialization activities including production layout, materials and costing for new products.

Basic (Required) Qualifications :

Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering from an accredited educational institution

5 years’ related experience including management of direct reports and manufacturing / operational process.

Must be able to work in the United States without corporate sponsorship now and within the future

Preferred Qualifications :

3-5 years’ experience in manufacturing engineering in a high mix / low volume manufacturing environment

Advanced degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering from an accredited institution

Experience with MRP systems (SAP)

Proficiency with Microsoft Office Applications

Experience with Microsoft Project

Position Success Criteria :

Knowledge of a wide variety of manufacturing processes including assembly and pull systems.

Technical understanding and experience with Lean Manufacturing Systems and Six Sigma methodology.

Ability to think strategically and see big picture in dynamic business environment

Ability to work independently and in a team environment; to communicate articulately and professionally across many organizational levels and functions

Highly motivated, works with a sense of urgency, driven to add value and deliver results

Ability to drive results by developing and empowering teams.

Strong Six Sigma process improvement knowledge and experience.

Proven experience in process development, implementation and sustainability.

Strong analytical skills and understanding of problem-solving tools / methods (Six Sigma, 8D, etc.), goal setting, and performance tracking.

Proficient knowledge of product assurance methods and quality systems.
