Job summary

The Pediatrician is a key member of Eau Claire Cooperative Health Center's multidisciplinary health care team. Primary, preventive, and episodic care is delivered, through routine physical exams to assess the health and

condition of children to include the promotion of health and wellness.

Essential Functions

  • Conducting regular thorough examinations on newborns and children to check and record their health and physical development.
  • Prescribing medications and give detailed instructions for administration.
  • Referring patients to physicians of other disciplines when necessary.
  • Providing advisement to parents/guardians on children’s diet, exercise and other disease preventive measures.
  • Staying abreast of advancements in pediatrics and best practices by attending seminars and conferences.

Administrative 

  • Complete medical records in a timely manner as specified by the medical record completion policy
  • Respond to message and phone calls from support staff and other members of the office team.
  • Attend Cooperative meetings as scheduled (75% of all required staff meetings)
  • Be knowledgeable of and work with care team to coordinate plans to improve population health (quality measures)
  • Achieve 80% compliance with quality measures (UDS, Hedis, etc).
  • Takes into account the patient's psychosocial and social determinants of health when establishing plan of care.

Clinical 

  • Collect medical histories and examines patient who present to the facility seeking medical services Make appropriate and timely medical diagnosis based upon history and physical exam.
  • Provides encounter information necessary for billing purposes (i.e. indicating appropriate CPT and ICD-10 codes for services rendered).
  • Order appropriate test to confirm or evaluate the medical situation.
  • Interpret and make sound clinical decisions in a timely manner, monitoring the effectiveness of care plans
  • Directs coordination of patient care with patient and other members of the clinical team.
  • Provides education to the patient that empowers them to be in control of their personal health by being knowledgeable of their chronic or episodic illnesses.
  • Provides medical supervision to support staff in implementing the plan of care o Supervises nurse practitioners and physician assistants as mandated by the state of South Carolina (Physicians).
  • Serves as a preceptor for professional students during clinical rotations at ECCHC.
  • Establishes an effective working relationship with public and private physicians and other clinical care referral sources.
  • Take hospital call unless otherwise arranged under special provisions.
  • Performs other duties as assigned by the CMO, Director of Clinical Administrative Services.

Qualifications

  • Medical Degree (MD) or foreign equivalent from an accredited program, completion of three years of postgraduate medical training in Pediatrics.
  • Board Eligible in General Pediatrics.
  • Candidate must possess a valid South Carolina medical license.
  • DEA and Controlled Substance Registration.
  • BLS, ACLS, PALS or NALS certified.

  • Proficient in use of computer programs including Word, Excel, PowerPoint

Physical demands

  • Prolonged periods sitting or standing
  • Must be able to lift up to 25 pounds.
  • Be able to sit, stand, stoop, squat for extended periods of time throughout the day.
  • Standing or walking for extended periods throughout the day.
