POSITION SUMMARY
The Seasonal Park Laborerperforms a variety of maintenance duties at County parks, beaches, campgrounds, and other recreational sites to keep buildings, grounds, and equipment in good repair, clean, and attractive to visitors.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Performs routine maintenance duties
- Cleans buildings and restrooms, restocking toilet paper and other supplies
- Picks up and disposes of garbage
- Cuts and mows grass
- Prunes and removes trees and clears and brushes trails
- Mows trails and repairs steps and handrails
- Cleans shop and grounds
- Performs equipment maintenance
- Washes, greases, and changes oil and filters
- Cleans furnaces and air conditioners and changes filters
- Sharpens mower blades and chain saws
- Cleans and properly stores equipment and tools
- Performs various duties to maintain, repair, and develop facilities:
- Paints, assembles, and installs benches and picnic tables, and signs
- Hauls and deposits dirt, fill, or gravel for roads, trails, and parking lots
- Paints, stains, and performs repairs on buildings
- Performs forestry-related duties:
- Transplants small trees and shrubs
- Assists with care of gardens
- Sprays poison ivy with non-restrictive herbicide
- Transports equipment to various locations
- Performs other duties in park and forest areas as required or assigned
TRAINING AND PROFESSIONAL EXEPERIENCE QUALIFICATIONS
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Paid experience performing grounds or building maintenance
- Appointment will be conditional upon successful completion of criminal background check and pre-employment physical with a 50 lb. lifting requirement
- Must possess and maintain a valid Motor Vehicle Operator's license and acceptable driving record
- Reliable transportation is required for reporting to the Parks and Forest headquarters at either Lake Eau Claire Park, Coon Fork Lake Park, Big Falls Park, or Lake Altoona County Park
