The Criminal Trial Prosecutor manages a criminal trial caseload and expected to try a wide range of case types predominately consisting of complex felonies. Position is full-time and expires on December 31, 2026.
EXAMPLE OF DUTIES
Represents the State of Wisconsin in criminal legal proceedings and at trial through expertise in presenting evidence and making oral arguments and presentations; applies knowledge and understanding of Wisconsin Criminal Code during legal proceedings and trials. Reviews and prepares case files for trial applying exceptional analytical and organizational skills.Identifies and alerts appropriate staff of witnesses that need to be subpoenaed to provide testimony.Employs knowledge of judicial procedures to support arguments; reviews, researches, and drafts pre-trial motions, notices, responses to defense filed pre-trial motions, and other filings.Ensures that cases are supported by adequate facts, relevant legal principles, and that documents are complete and prepared appropriately.Performs other related duties as required or assigned.
