Construction Inspector (Blasting Operations)

EBA Engineering, Inc. is seeking a Construction Inspector with blasting experience to support a high-profile infrastructure project in Maryland. Your Responsibilities

• Conduct thorough field inspections to ensure compliance with blasting requirements, building codes, safety regulations, and project specifications
• Inspect mechanical, civil, and structural systems to verify proper installation and functionality
• Identify and document deviations from approved plans and recommend corrective actions
• Monitor construction activities to ensure adherence to industry standards and best practices
• Review and interpret blueprints, schematics, and construction documents
• Perform tests and inspections on materials and equipment to verify compliance
• Prepare detailed inspection reports, including findings, recommendations, and corrective actions
• Maintain accurate records of inspections, tests, and compliance documentation
• Communicate effectively with project managers, contractors, and stakeholders
• Collaborate with project teams to resolve construction issues and maintain project schedules
• Provide technical guidance to contractors and construction personnel
• Participate in project meetings, offering insights on construction methods and materials

Core Requirements

• 5 years of field experience performing quality assurance inspections of blasting operations
• A degree is not required, but a bachelor's in civil or mechanical engineering, construction management, or a related field is preferred
• Strong understanding of construction codes, standards, and safety regulations
• Proficiency in reading and interpreting construction plans and specifications
• Excellent attention to detail, problem-solving, and communication skills
• Proficiency using inspection tools and software
• Proficiency in math and English
• Able to lift up to 50 pounds
• Able to walk over rough and uneven terrain; stand for up to 12 hours a day on occasion; and perform physical tasks such as bending, stooping, kneeling, and twisting; using hands to grasp and reach; raising hands above the head; sitting; climbing; and balancing
• Able to work in various weather conditions and terrains

Preferred

• Experience preparing and/or reviewing blasting plans
• Experience on tunnel projects
• Experience with Maryland construction projects
