Your Responsibilities
- Conduct thorough field inspections to ensure compliance with blasting requirements, building codes, safety regulations, and project specifications
- Inspect mechanical, civil, and structural systems to verify proper installation and functionality
- Identify and document deviations from approved plans and recommend corrective actions
- Monitor construction activities to ensure adherence to industry standards and best practices
- Review and interpret blueprints, schematics, and construction documents
- Perform tests and inspections on materials and equipment to verify compliance
- Prepare detailed inspection reports, including findings, recommendations, and corrective actions
- Maintain accurate records of inspections, tests, and compliance documentation
- Communicate effectively with project managers, contractors, and stakeholders
- Collaborate with project teams to resolve construction issues and maintain project schedules
- Provide technical guidance to contractors and construction personnel
- Participate in project meetings, offering insights on construction methods and materials
Core Requirements
- 5 years of field experience performing quality assurance inspections of blasting operations
- A degree is not required, but a bachelor's in civil or mechanical engineering, construction management, or a related field is preferred
- Strong understanding of construction codes, standards, and safety regulations
- Proficiency in reading and interpreting construction plans and specifications
- Excellent attention to detail, problem-solving, and communication skills
- Proficiency using inspection tools and software
- Proficiency in math and English
- Able to lift up to 50 pounds
- Able to walk over rough and uneven terrain; stand for up to 12 hours a day on occasion; and perform physical tasks such as bending, stooping, kneeling, and twisting; using hands to grasp and reach; raising hands above the head; sitting; climbing; and balancing
- Able to work in various weather conditions and terrains
Preferred
- Experience preparing and/or reviewing blasting plans
- Experience on tunnel projects
- Experience with Maryland construction projects
