Overview
The SCSIL Media Specialist III is responsible for the technical production of all media initiated by and generated through the production studio in the Sentara Center for Simulation and Immersive Learning (SCSIL). This individual will produce professional quality instructional content surrounding the educational requirements of the school’s curriculum; produce promotional media for SCSIL consistent with its Brand; coordinate personnel and resources as needed for projects; develop and design deliverables; and, conduct client-specified post-production editing and packaging.
Responsibilities
Major Duties / Critical Tasks :
The SCSIL Media Production Manager will plan and produce SCSIL’s educational media for teaching, assessment and research; produce SCSIL’s promotional media; coordinate all media production activities, post-production editing, packaging, and archiving of work, arranging broadcasts on campus and to external sites; consult and collaborate with staff, clients and faculty to create educational materials using a variety of tools and techniques; and, propose equipment needs, updates, and supply needs to the Director of Simulation Technology.
Production
- Plan, direct, capture and edit all SCSIL productions including studio, on‐location, live events, and special projects as well as intros / outros, and promotional videos.
- Proactively collaborate with SCSIL staff, taking initiative to efficiently and effectively organize production events.
- Operate and maintain a variety of computer hardware and software, cameras, decks, recording equipment and video editing systems.
- Select shot locations; prepare set design and layout for video and live productions, select appropriate recording equipment, light placement, and shot compositions.
- Set up, engineer equipment for studio and field productions including matching and adjustment of cameras, lighting, audio recording and transportation (if necessary).
- Assemble and position materials, furniture and props for regular studio series and special programs as needed.
- Provide media material for contribution to SCSIL websites
- Prepare quarterly production reports.

Qualifications
Associate’s Degree in communications or related field preferred; Prior experience in project coordination and media production or related field.
