Risk & Fraud Analyst - Emerging Threats Incident Management
We are looking for a Risk Analyst to join the Emerging Threats Incident Management team! The Emerging Threats Incident Management team is responsible for the monitoring, alerting and incident response process for all core risk metrics and workflows in addition to the proactive identification and investigation of emerging fraud trends and acting as a centralized point of contact for risk partner concerns. During major risk events the Emerging Threats team is responsible for prioritization of each incident including impact assessment, root cause analysis and working with a cross functional team to determine mitigation options to quickly restore normal business operations.
The successful candidate should be a quick learner with deep quantitative and qualitative analytical capabilities, should possess strong intellectual curiosity, skills in problem definition, and a collaborative working style! A solid grasp and experience with fraud and risk trends is strongly preferred. Should be able to balance multiple projects at the same time and handle various tasks and demands in a fast paced technology environment.
What You Will Accomplish
$58,700 - $84,400
Base pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including location, skills, and experience. The total compensation package for this position may also include other elements, including a target bonus and restricted stock units (as applicable) in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits (including 401(k) eligibility and various paid time off benefits, such as PTO and parental leave). Details of participation in these benefit plans will be provided if an employee receives an offer of employment.
If hired, employees will be in an “at-will position” and the Company reserves the right to modify base salary (as well as any other discretionary payment or compensation program) at any time, including for reasons related to individual performance, Company or individual department/team performance, and market factors.

What You Will Accomplish
- Responsible for monitoring, identification, root cause analysis, mitigation and triaging of new and ongoing risk incidents daily with the mission to restore normal operation.
- Provide real time insight into Risk checkpoints and controls, conduct in depth analysis of risk events and emerging threats that arise.
- Develop queries to extract data for incident investigation and perform exploratory data analysis to identify emerging threats.
- Conduct proactive qualitative investigations to identify and scope emerging fraud trends.
- Partner across teams and regions within eBay to coordinate incident response, share insights and drive swift resolutions to incidents.
- Maintain centralized incident tracking, summarizing and reporting of all incidents.
- Incident Response - collaborate with team to manage all high severity incidents from inception to resolution, ensuring quick and accurate assessment of the issue, including identifying the impact to a specific Business Unit, Owner(s) and engaging the appropriate resolver group.
- Provide input into the Incident Management Process, further defining the process flow, detailing expectations and assist in training and guiding impacted parties to enforce to the process.
- Dedication to working the Hybrid Model with 3 days onsite per week out of either our Salt Lake City, Utah office or our Austin, Texas office.
- Solid experience and proficiency in SQL, Excel, and demonstrable understanding of database concepts and practical experience with analytic tools (Tableau, Elasticsearch, Grafana or Python).
- 3 years of experience in risk management, incident management, project management, or related field.
- Understanding of risk management in multiple areas: Fraud Risk (account take over, stolen financials), Credit Risk (Bank Payments), Buyer Risk, Seller Risk, abuse, collusion risk, etc.
- Experience working with large datasets, recognizing and interpreting data trends, and using data to influence business decisions
- Ability to break down sophisticated problems and business questions and effectively communicate measurable insights to diverse audiences.
- Experience and knowledge of the incident management principles and methodologies, specializing in medium/large-scale organizational incident processes a plus.
