Job Summary
The Operations Manager will be responsible for overseeing daily operations at our Iowa location. This includes effective labor management, productivity enhancement, quality control, and safety measures established by the Operations Department. The ideal candidate will ensure safe and efficient operations while serving as a company representative on regulatory issues. They will also enhance operational procedures, systems, and principles, focusing on information flow and management, business processes, and management reporting. Additionally, they will supervise staff according to company policies and applicable laws.
Key Responsibilities
- Operational Planning: Develop and implement plans for warehouse and quality operations, ensuring seamless execution and meeting production goals.
- Performance Measurement: Analyze performance data, financial data, and activity reports to measure productivity and identify areas for improvement.
- Cross-Functional Coordination: Collaborate with human resources, finance, and logistics departments to guarantee successful operations.
- Operational Oversight: Supervise daily operations, including quality assurance, warehouse management, and invoicing functions.
- Labor Resource Allocation: Determine labor needs to meet production objectives.
- Budget Preparation: Assist in preparing budgets for the operations unit.
- Policies and Procedures: Assist in updating the organization's operations manual and policies.
- Continuous Improvement: Identify opportunities for improvement and initiate corrective actions when necessary.
Qualifications and Skills
- A Bachelor's degree in engineering, business management, business administration, or a related field is required; an MBA is preferred.
- At least 5 years of experience in operations management is required.
- Excellent managerial and supervisory skills are essential.
- Extensive knowledge of operations and production management is necessary.
- Ability to interpret financial data to set production goals.
- Excellent organizational and attention-to-detail skills.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite or similar software.
- Strong understanding of global supply chain management, including ocean and air shipments.
