Job Overview
We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated House Parent to provide a nurturing environment for children in our care. The ideal candidate will be able to relate positively with children and provide a loving home-like atmosphere by teaching youth social skills, self-care, and independent living skills. House parents need to have a working knowledge of behavior modification techniques and how to deal with a child who is experiencing loss and trauma history. Communication is essential, as well as the ability to handle crisis situations in a professional and calm manner. Responsible for medication administration and record keeping. Ability to perform basic housekeeping, assist in laundry duties, and meal preparation required. Supervise children, volunteers, host visiting groups, provide transportation for children, and be a role model for children. Must read, understand, and adhere to Ebenezer policies.
Duties
- Supervise and support children in daily living activities including personal hygiene, meal preparation, and recreational activities.
- Ensure resident rights are upheld and promote a respectful environment.
- Assist with homework and educational activities, encouraging personal growth and development.
- Implement individual care plans tailored to each child's needs, including memory care strategies when necessary.
- Maintain a clean and organized living space, ensuring safety standards are met at all times.
- Provide emotional support and guidance to children, helping them navigate challenges, build resilience, and meet personal growth goals.
- Collaborate with social workers and other professionals to coordinate care services effectively.
- Administer first aid when necessary and maintain accurate records of any incidents or health concerns.
- Administer medications and maintain accurate medication administration records.
- Participate in job related training sessions.
- Live and work in the residential facility on a seven day on and seven day off rotation.
Minimum Requirements
- 21 years of age or older
- High school diploma or GED
- Valid driver license and good driving record
- Favorable background check and drug screen
- Previous experience in childcare or related field is preferred.
- Ability to lift children as needed for safety or comfort.
- Experience in meal preparation for diverse dietary needs is a plus.
