Job Summary:
A nursing assistant plays a vital role in supporting residents with their daily care needs. This includes personal cares such as bathing, oral hygiene, grooming, toileting, dressing and showers. They also respond to call lights, check and record vital signs per community patient care model, and perform AM/PM cares including peri care and catheter care.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist residents with personal cares according to their individualized care plan.
- Monitor and record vital signs, ensuring accurate documentation.
- Perform morning and evening cares, including specialized procedures like peri care and catheter maintenance.
- Transfer or reposition residents safely, either independently or with assistance.
- Observe residents' conditions and report any changes to staff in a clear and concise manner.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date records in electronic medical charts.
- Prioritize resolving resident and family concerns, providing empathetic support.
- Foster excellent customer service, communicating effectively with residents and colleagues.
Qualifications:
- Active registration on the Minnesota Nursing Assistant registry by start date.
- Demonstrated ability to work with diverse populations, particularly the geriatric population.
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills, essential for success in this role.
- Previous experience working in healthcare settings, preferably as a HHA, PCA, DSP, NA or Resident Assistant.
