Description
The Technical Design Assistant provides support across all categories in the Technical Design department. You will work on categories such as sleepwear (woven & knit), loungewear (sweaters, woven & knit) as well as intimates. The role spans a wide variety of skills relating to fit and sample development.
What You'll Do
- Support fit sessions by preparing samples, taking fit notes and pictures, and documenting changes with accuracy and clarity.
- Measure incoming samples against technical specifications and communicate discrepancies to the technical designer.
- Assist in maintaining detailed tech packs, including construction details, measurements, and garment specifications.
- Actively participates in fit sessions to gain a deeper understanding of fit, construction, and category-specific standards.
- Communicates effectively with internal teams and external vendors regarding sample status, fit feedback, garment construction, and sample tracking.
- Assist in updating TD status reports in WIP and product information charts.
- Participate in seasonal Design Handoff Meetings for style development.
- Work onsite from our office in Coral Gables, FL at least two days per week, as well as additional days as needed.
- 2 years’ work experience in the fashion industry including technical design and / or patternmaking with construction experience and full knowledge of total production timeline.
- Foundational knowledge of garment fit, construction, and sample measuring.
- Capable of maintaining accuracy and attention to detail while working in a dynamic, open workspace.
- Demonstrates a collaborative and positive attitude in team settings.
- Strong organizational and time-management skills are essential.
- Open to receiving feedback on processes and skills, with a willingness to engage in discussions to improve performance.
- Flexibility and a growth mindset, with a commitment to continuous learning and skill development.
- Knowledge of Web based applications a plus (e.g., FLEX PLM or comparable software).
- Working use of Adobe Illustrator.
