Summary: This position is responsible for planning the production schedules, under limited supervision, to ensure controlled flow of shop orders released to meet delivery requirements.
Essential Functions of the Job: The essential functions of this job require the person, with or without reasonable accommodations, to perform the following:
- Draw up final assembly schedule to establish sequence and lead-time of each operation to meet customer promised shipping dates according to sales forecasts or customer orders.
- Interface with Customer Relations, Engineering, and Production Supervisors to coordinate, monitor, expedite, or defer manufacturing schedules.
- Work with Production Planning Manager, Production Manager and Production Shift Supervisors to determine daily shift plans.
- Work with Material Planners/Buyers, Sourcing and SCM department to ensure all component parts are available to meet start date build schedules and coordinate with production to ensure all finished goods manufacturing orders are completed by the scheduled due dates.
- Inform Customer Relations of material shortages if they look like they will impact promised ship dates.
- Make recommendations to Sourcing group on Make vs Buy decisions.
- Provide feedback, monitor status, measure progress and forecast probability of successfully meeting the production schedule deadlines to management. Communicate the same to Customer Relations Department.
- Collaborate with Production to plan and schedule workflow for each department and operations according to previously established manufacturing sequences and lead times.
- Use and maintain Part Master files to support Materials Requirements Planning system fabrication requirements and on time delivery to customers.
- Manage all shop floor paperwork required to manufacture assigned product lines.
- Confer with department supervisors to determine status of assigned products.
- Monitor actual production versus plan (daily, weekly and year to date).
- Initiate re-evaluations of nonconforming material and work with Quality Manager to recommend final disposition.
- Collaborate with Production Manager to expedite operations that delay schedules and alter schedules to meet unforeseen conditions.
- Use the following software programs when performing this job: MRP II, CAD, Shop Floor Control, Capacity Planning, MO Maintenance, Microsoft Excel and Word.
- Work with Engineering to provide material analysis for change cut-ins dates and coordinate all new product introductions.
- Perform all other duties as assigned.
Recommended Education and/or Experience:
- Associates degree in a related field with minimum five years manufacturing experience preferred.
