The Material Planner is responsible for ordering raw materials and select production materials and services directly associated with EBWE's needs. The role involves timely planning, scheduling, and inventory control to ensure the smooth operation of EBWE Manufacturing. The Material Planner also works closely with various departments to ensure material availability aligns with production schedules.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities :
- Execute the purchase of material required to support EBWE Manufacturing.
- Monitor supplier delivery schedules , ensuring material coverage in support of production schedules. Contact suppliers and initiate corrective actions as necessary.
- Develop and implement component scheduling plans.
Collaborate with buyers to review supplier strategies and implement plans.
Use planning schedules, lead times, cost considerations, and material availability to ensure that component plans meet production schedules.Adjust supplier planning schedules to stabilize production levels in response to changing customer demand.Authorize and release component releases independently.Interpret and analyze planning schedules and supplier reports to identify inventory shortages or excesses.Analyze and develop short-range and long-range component plans, providing input for long-range forecasts.
Maintain planning schedules using system tools, reviewing for shortages, and working with suppliers to resolve issues. If unresolved, escalate to the manager.Release Purchase Orders for production materials, floor stock items, and all purchases required to support the business.Collaborate with other departments such as the Scheduler, Purchasing, and Supervisors to address material status and production planning issues.Coordinate planning of recent schedules and inventory control parameters for assigned products.Resolve discrepancies with vendors related to quantity and quality of materials.Interface with all departments to resolve issues with needed purchase items.Work towards continuous improvement in the role of Material Planner.Perform other related duties as required.Education / Experience :
Bachelor's degree preferred in Supply Chain, Business Administration, or a related field.Two (2) years of progressively responsible experience in purchasing and materials control within a manufacturing environment.Strong proficiency in personal computer skills , mainframe operations, procurement software, and purchasing / accounting processes.Job Knowledge, Skills and Abilities :
Excellent verbal and written communication skills .Strong analytical skills in forecasting and anticipating production needs and capabilities.Problem-solving abilities to address practical challenges and adapt to changing situations under stress.Computer literacy applied to scheduling and data management.Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to resolve conflicts and gain cooperation.Understanding of Lean Manufacturing concepts .Employment with EBW Electronics is contingent upon successfully passing a background check and drug screening.
