We are seeking a Kennel Assistant to join our team!
This position plays a critical role in ensuring these purposefully breed dogs become the Service Dogs they are destined to become. Kennel Assistants are the essential in ensuring the Service Dogs in Training are receiving the best care physically and mentally. You will not only be providing love and care for 30 plus dogs daily, you will be instrumental in helping dogs help humans!

WORK ENVIRONMENT: The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those and employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job. The noise level in the work environment can be loud.
Note: As you can imagine working with live dogs can be physically demanding, and will require you to be on your feet moving during the shift. Additionally, you will be working inside and outside in all weather conditions. Hours of operations is from 7:30am until 7:30pm seven days a week.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: include but not limited to
- Keeping the kennel clean and sanitized in accordance with ECAD policies
- Animals are healthy and current on all vaccines required by CT
- Make sure all animals are feed, watered, medicated, groomed, and exercise in accordance with ECAD policies & dog care plan
- Managing large group play and individual playing for enrichment
- Records are maintained and current at all times.
- Document all concerns regarding animals, employees, and/or property
- Complete and turn in the work sheet supplied by ECAD
- Document any changes in health and behavior
- Give medication both prescribed and preventative
- Perform daily kennel duties
- Must be willing to work between 7:30am – 7:30pm, weekends & holidays as needed
- Must be able to pass a background check
- Must have reliable transportation
- High School diploma, Higher education in the fields of Animal Science, Vet Tech, Training or Grooming is a plus.
- Experience in veterinary/kennel setting is preferred but not required
- Ability to perform heavy lifting tasks related to animal care and facility maintenance
- Knowledge of dog training techniques and animal behavior a plus
- Passion for animal welfare and enrichment
- Reliable
- Able to work well in a team and independently
- Attention to detail
