Job Description

The Cyber Security Advisor specializing in manufacturing will lead efforts to secure and protect manufacturing systems and networks. This role involves assessing and mitigating cyber risks, implementing robust security measures, and ensuring compliance with industry standards. The advisor will collaborate with cross-functional teams to design and implement strategies that safeguard manufacturing processes, systems, and data from cyber threats.

Qualified candidates should have a strong technical background (ex, systems, networks, cloud, etc.), and have knowledge and understanding of the particular threats that the manufacturing industry faces, in addition to vulnerability analysis, incident reporting, security standards, policy, and training content delivery.

The Cybersecurity Advisor may also conduct classroom and/or webinar instruction in the theory & execution of cyber security best practices to small and medium size business operators. The Advisor will work as part of a team to develop and refine cyber courseware.

  • Risk Assessment and Management:
  • Conduct comprehensive risk assessments of manufacturing systems and processes.
  • Identify vulnerabilities and potential cyber threats specific to the manufacturing sector.
  • Develop and implement risk mitigation strategies to protect critical manufacturing infrastructure.
  • Security Strategy Development:
  • Design and implement cybersecurity strategies tailored to the unique needs of manufacturing environments.
  • Collaborate with IT and OT (Operational Technology) teams to integrate security measures seamlessly.
  • Ensure alignment of security strategies with business objectives and regulatory requirements.
  • Incident Response and Recovery:
  • Develop and maintain incident response plans specific to manufacturing systems.
  • Lead and coordinate response efforts during security incidents to minimize impact.
  • Conduct post-incident analysis to identify root causes and improve future response strategies.
  • Compliance and Standards:
  • Ensure compliance with relevant industry standards and regulations (e.g., NIST, ISO/IEC 27001, IEC 62443).
  • Stay updated on emerging regulations and adapt security measures accordingly.
  • Conduct regular audits to verify compliance and effectiveness of security controls.
  • Security Awareness and Training:
  • Develop and deliver cybersecurity training programs for manufacturing staff.
  • Promote a culture of security awareness and best practices among employees.
  • Provide guidance on secure behavior and practices within manufacturing environments.
  • Collaboration and Stakeholder Engagement:
  • Work closely with engineering, IT, and OT teams to integrate cybersecurity into manufacturing processes.
  • Engage with external stakeholders, including vendors and partners, to ensure a secure supply chain.
  • Represent the organization at industry forums and collaborate on cybersecurity initiatives.
  • Technology Implementation:
  • Evaluate and recommend cybersecurity technologies and solutions suitable for manufacturing environments.
  • Oversee the implementation and configuration of security technologies.
  • Monitor and maintain security systems to ensure optimal performance and protection.
  • Continuous Improvement:
  • Stay current with evolving cyber threats and industry trends.
  • Implement continuous improvement initiatives to enhance the organization’s cybersecurity posture.
  • Conduct regular reviews and updates of security policies, procedures, and technologies.
