Senior IT Systems Administrator

The Senior IT Systems Administrator will provide advanced support for enterprise IT systems, including managing server environments (Windows/Linux), cloud platforms such as Azure, and network infrastructure. Responsibilities include system monitoring, incident response, access control, data backup and recovery, and support for web applications and databases. The role also ensures systems meet security and compliance standards while driving operational reliability and performance. U.S. citizenship and a minimum of 8 years of relevant experience are required.

Minimum Qualifications

Education:

• Bachelor’s degree in Information Systems, IT Management, Business Systems, or related STEM fields (Engineering, Math, Science) OR High School Diploma or equivalent plus four (4) additional years of relevant IT experience

Experience:

• A minimum of eight (8) years of relevant experience supporting enterprise-level IT systems and infrastructure

Technical Responsibilities & Core Duties

Systems Engineering & Server Support

• Provide advanced technical support for IT services related to facilities planning, operations, and ongoing maintenance
• Develop, manage, and maintain server environments (Windows and/or Linux), including patching, performance optimization, and capacity planning
• Coordinate pre- and post-production readiness activities to ensure system integrity and operational continuity

Storage & Data Administration

• Analyze, test, and administer storage systems to support data integrity, scalability, and reliability
• Oversee data backup/recovery processes and system validation procedures

Network Infrastructure & Administration

• Administer and troubleshoot network infrastructure, including routers, switches, and wireless devices
• Work with cross-functional teams to ensure secure, efficient, and highly available connectivity

Cloud Operations

• Conduct daily cloud administration tasks on platforms like Azure or equivalent providers
• Support design, testing, and deployment of cloud services, ensuring availability and alignment with security requirements

Authentication & Access Control

• Administer Active Directory, domain trusts, and smart card authentication
• Support identity and access management processes across systems and environments

Monitoring, Troubleshooting & Incident Response

• Leverage tools such as SolarWinds, Splunk, and ServiceNow to monitor performance and proactively identify issues
• Gather and analyze system metrics to prevent service degradation
• Lead or support incident response efforts, coordinating service restoration and documenting root cause analyses

Database & Web Application Support

• Oversee the administration of databases, websites, and web applications, ensuring operational integrity and performance
• Resolve issues and escalate as needed in coordination with development and DBA teams

User Support & Documentation

• Plan and implement user support initiatives, resolve escalated technical issues, and develop user-facing support documentation
• Maintain up-to-date system documentation, including configurations, troubleshooting logs, and architectural diagrams

Security & Compliance

• Apply security best practices, including patch management, vulnerability assessments, and adherence to incident handling protocols
• Ensure compliance with enterprise standards and federal requirements

Process Improvement & Collaboration

• Participate in continuous improvement efforts by assessing new tools and recommending integrations
• Facilitate technical meetings and collaborate with internal stakeholders to support initiatives and optimize operations
