What are the responsibilities and job description for the Asian Interpreter/ Activity Aide position at Echelon Care and Rehab?
PURPOSE: The Asian community provides therapeutic activities to residents that are designed to meet the interests and to improve the physical, mental and psycho-social well-being of each resident according to the comprehensive resident assessment and plan of care. The community also provides interpreters to help assist the residents and staffs with the language barrier.

DUTIES:
- Translate/ interpret accurately the needs and concerns between the residence and staff members
- Assist the Asian Director with implementing activity programs to meet the needs of the resident(s)
- Maintain resources needed for each resident’s activity needs
- Provide activity resources and visits to residents in their own rooms
- Document resident activities provided to residents and the resident’s response or lack of response
- Maintain confidentiality of resident and facility information
- Follow facility procedure transfer of residents for activity participation or appointments (may include assist of resident to appointments outside of facility)
- Come to work in a clean, neat uniform and consistently present an appropriate professional appearance
- Come to work as scheduled and consistently
- Additionally duties as assigned by the supervisor
SKILLS/REQUIREMENTS: Interpreters needs to be compassionate and understandable to the needs of the resident(s). Must have the patience to work with the elderly and disabled. Must have the knowledge of spoken and written English and one or more Chinese/Asian dialect(s).
Must be flexible with hours
Must be available to work every other weekend
