Responsibilities:
- Evaluate patients based on departmental standard
- Conduct and modify evaluations based on the patient's symptoms, level of activity, and medical status establishing individualized, appropriate, measurable goals for each patient
- Treat patients with the appropriate and acceptable therapeutic techniques
- Administer physical agents (modalities) and manual therapeutic technique to attain established goals
- Utilize effective techniques to assist in normalizing speech and language activity
- Educate patients/families in home exercise programs and/or functional activities in order to maximize independent functional activity
- Determine when a patient has achieved maximal benefit from treatment and recommend discharge if appropriate
- Document in accordance to insurance guidelines and adhere to the department's policies and procedures
- Seek and foster interdepartmental communication and communication with the referring physician regarding patient care as evidenced by observation, and chart review
- Accurately and consistently fill out and submit charges daily
- Adhere to the professional code of ethics established by the ASHA and the facility at all times as evidenced by observation
- Perform all duties with proper body mechanics and safety to prevent injuries
- Supervise at least one affiliated student per year
- Attend a continuing education course to further/improve treatment techniques
- Participate in at least one departmental in-service, or community in-service as evidenced by documentation of educational program
