Job Summary:
An Interventional Radiology Technologist provides patient services using invasive cardiovascular technology to diagnose and treat organ and vascular diseases. They perform a variety of diagnostic and therapeutic technical procedures under physician direction, demonstrating expert knowledge of anatomy, equipment, and infection control. Additionally, they provide clinical patient care, maintain high standards of image quality, and ensure compliance with safety protocols while working collaboratively with healthcare teams.
Responsibilities:
- Performs all routine radiographic procedures according to department standards, protocols and guidelines required by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists and the State of Connecticut.
- Provides proper clinical patient care while performing diagnostic procedures.
- Critiques and assesses the overall quality of images taken.
- Uses a combination of skill, experience and judgment in improving the quality of images.
- Exhibits accuracy in computer patient and diagnostic procedure documentation.
Requirements:
- Must be a high school graduate.
- American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) National Board certified.
- Vascular-Interventional (VI) Radiography Certification by the ARRT preferred.
- Maintain a valid State of Connecticut License to practice Radiographic technical procedures.
- BLS Certified.
Skills:
- Advanced math skills in physics.
- Complete working knowledge in the principals of physics, anatomy, medical terminology, sterile technique and radiation protection as it relates to Radiology practice.
- Ability to speak, read and write using the English language.
- Effective communication with individuals from all age groups.
- Positive professional demeanor.
