Job Summary:
The Registered Nurse of the Special Care Unit plays a vital role in providing high-quality patient-centered care to adult and geriatric patients. As a member of the interdisciplinary team, you will work collaboratively to coordinate patient care, communicate effectively with colleagues and patients, and promote positive patient outcomes.
Responsibilities:
- Perform comprehensive assessments and re-assessments of patient condition and care needs.
- Demonstrate knowledge of development principles for adult and geriatric populations and provide age-appropriate care.
- Assess and reassess pain, utilizing appropriate pain management tools and techniques, and educate patients and families accordingly.
- Develop and revise individualized plans of care based on assessment and patient response to treatment.
- Follow medication rights and reduce potential for medication errors.
- Perform all aspects of patient care in an environment that optimizes patient safety and promotes positive outcomes.
- Document nursing process and responses to care in a timely manner.
- Demonstrate flexibility, organization, and critical thinking skills under stressful situations.
- Formulate teaching plans based on identified learning needs and evaluate effectiveness of learning.
