Position Summary:
The Physical Therapist provides treatment to patients by evaluating their function and applying appropriate treatments to improve or restore function. The therapist participates in an interdisciplinary approach for in-service education and community outreach, and may be responsible for cross-site coverage.
Education/Certification:
- Graduate of an accredited program of Physical Therapy with a minimum of a B.S.
- Must hold a current Connecticut license in Physical Therapy
Competencies:
- Strong English communication skills, both verbal and written
- Personal computer skills and proficiency in Windows-based programs
- Basic keyboarding skills, desirable but not required
- Access to reliable transportation for travel between multiple work sites
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Evaluates patients based on departmental standards
- Conducts and modifies evaluations to establish individualized goals for each patient
- Treats patients with therapeutic exercises and physical agents to relieve pain and attain established goals
- Utilizes effective techniques to assist in normalizing motor activity and learning
- Documents patient information according to insurance guidelines and adheres to department policies
- Seeks interdepartmental communication and communicates with referring physicians regarding patient care
- Fills out and submits charges daily, and performs all duties with proper body mechanics and safety
