Job Title: Respiratory Therapist
As a Respiratory Therapist at ECHN, you will provide essential respiratory care and therapy as ordered by physicians, developing personalized treatment plans to improve patient outcomes.
Your role includes operating and maintaining critical equipment, administering medications, performing detailed assessments, and ensuring effective communication with patients and healthcare teams.
A key focus of this position is safety and adherence to policies, which enhances both employee engagement and patient care in a collaborative healthcare environment.
Responsibilities:
- Perform safe respiratory therapy modalities as ordered by physician, developing a plan of care based on assessment data and standards of care.
- Set up, maintain and monitor mechanical ventilation according to policy and procedure.
- Administer medications demonstrating thorough knowledge of policy and procedure.
- Select and operate equipment for proper operation and cleanliness.
- Perform tracheal, endotracheal and nasopharyngeal suctioning including the instillation of pharmacologic agents according to policy and procedure.
- Draw and analyze blood gases by arterial stick according to policy and procedure.
Requirements:
- Graduate of an approved Respiratory Care program.
- Credential of Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) or Certified Respiratory Therapist (CRT) from the National Board of Respiratory Care.
- Current license from the State of Connecticut to practice as a Respiratory Care Practitioner.
- Pulmonary Function Testing (PFT) certification desirable.
- A minimum of one year of skilled respiratory experience within the last two years.
- Must be able to speak, read, and write using the English language.
