Job Description:
We are currently seeking experienced and reliable American Sign Language Interpreters to join our team as independent contractors. The ideal candidate will have a passion for language, excellent communication skills, and the ability to accurately convey messages between American Sign Language and English speakers. This role involves on-site interpretation for various settings including medical appointments, legal consultations, business meetings, and community events.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide accurate and effective interpretation services from American Sign Language to English and vice versa.
- Maintain confidentiality and adhere to ethical standards in all interpretation assignments.
- Travel to various locations within the specified cities for on-site interpretation.
- Ensure cultural sensitivity and awareness in all interpretations.
- Collaborate with clients and team members to deliver high-quality language services.
Requirements:
- Fluency in both American Sign Language and English.
- Proven experience as an interpreter, preferably in a professional setting.
- Excellent listening, retention, and note-taking skills.
- Strong understanding of cultural nuances and the ability to adapt language to context.
- Reliable transportation and willingness to travel for assignments.
- Ability to work independently and manage time effectively.
- Certification in interpretation (e.g., CCHI, NBCMI) is a plus.
