Duties And Responsibilities
- Oversee installation, turn-up, configuration, and testing of telecommunications systems, including:
- Single-mode and multi-mode fiber optic networks.
- SCADA RTUs and associated communication interfaces.
- Ethernet switches with 10FL, 100FX, and 1000SX ports.
- Ethernet radios and wireless communication devices.
- Fujitsu multiplexers and related transport equipment.
- Integrate and test DPU (Digital Protection Units) for substation and power system applications.
- Configure and verify GPS IRIG-B time synchronization systems for SCADA and protection relays.
- Oversee installation, termination, and testing of cabling, including RS232, RS485, and fiber optic cabling.
- Deploy and troubleshoot media converters for network transitions.
- Conduct system diagnostics and troubleshoot issues to ensure seamless operation of telecommunications and control systems.
- Collaborate with power system engineers to ensure proper integration of communication equipment with protection and control systems.
- Create detailed documentation, including test plans, system configurations, and operational procedures.
- Ensure compliance with industry standards and best practices, including cybersecurity protocols and safety requirements.
- Provide technical support and training to field technicians and end-users.
- Strong understanding of power system operations and SCADA communication protocols.
- Proficiency in configuring and testing fiber optic systems, Ethernet switches, and serial communication protocols (RS232/RS485).
- Familiarity with testing and deploying Fujitsu multiplexers, Ethernet radios, and GPS time synchronization systems.
- Hands-on experience with media converters and their applications in power system communications.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail in system diagnostics and troubleshooting.
- Strong communication skills for technical collaboration and documentation.
- Must be able to perform fieldwork at substations and remote sites, averaging 75% of the time.
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Telecommunications Engineering, or a related field.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in telecommunications engineering within the power systems industry.

- Salary: $117,000 – $165,000 annually (based on education and experience)
