JOB SUMMARY:

The assembly technician is responsible for assembling, operating and maintaining equipment and processes to ensure production standards and customer specifications are met. This role requires versatility across various tasks, including assembling products, operating machines, inspecting materials, and collaborating with other departments to deliver high-quality results.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES and RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Assemble products, including switches, panels, and other components, using specified tools and procedures.
  • Operate and set up machines such as laminators, digital presses, die cutters, and paper cutters as required.
  • Inspect raw materials, overlays, and finished products to ensure compliance with quality standards.
  • Follow written job specifications, blueprints, and customer requirements.
  • Perform troubleshooting and maintenance on equipment to ensure consistent production efficiency.
  • Maintain accurate production records and inventory tags as necessary.
  • Apply adhesives, perform laminating tasks, and prepare materials for die impressions and other finishing processes.
  • Ensure cleanliness and organization of the workspace and machinery.

QUALIFICATIONS:

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.   • High school diploma or GED equivalent.
  • One to three months of related experience preferred, or equivalent training.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to follow instructions.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and work in a fast-paced production environment.
  • Proficiency in basic math skills (addition, subtraction, multiplication, division) and ruler measurements.
  • Knowledge of quality control standards and mechanical aptitude.
  • Effective communication skills and ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:

High school diploma or general education degree (GED) required. One to three months related experience and/or training preferred; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Must have good judgment of color, design, and print quality.

LANGUAGE SKILLS:

Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:

Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.

REASONING ABILITY:

Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions. Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standard situations.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

  • Use hands to handle or operate tools, reach with arms, and perform repetitive tasks.
  • Stand, walk, sit, stoop, kneel and crouch for extended periods.
  • Occasionally lift and move objects up to 50 pounds.
  • Exhibit visual acuity for inspecting detailed work.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

The work environment is typically quiet to moderate, with exposure to moving production equipment. Proper personal protective equipment (PPE) will be provided when necessary.
