Job Title: Director of Development Office                                         Wage/Hour Status: Exempt

Reports to: Executive Director of the Education Foundation               Pay Grade: AP 7

Dept. /School:  ECISD Development Office                                     Days:  227

Supervises:  Grant Writer & Parent -Community Engagement Specialist    

Primary Purpose: The Development Office will engage the community in understanding of and support for the district’s instructional programs by building relationships with key stakeholders, collaborating across district departments and schools, timely communication, and successful fundraising.   

Qualifications:

Education/Certification:

  • Bachelor’s Degree

Major Responsibilities and Duties:

Oversee parent-community engagement program including, but not limited to: 

  • Supervision of Parent-Community Engagement Specialist.
  • Coordinate collaborative development of a district community engagement calendar
    • Help in establishment of quality education and programing for parents and community
    • Research parent and community engagement practices.
    • Collaborate across district departments to develop engagement strategies aligned with district’s goals and strategic plan.

 

Oversee volunteers including but not limited to: 

  • Recruitment of volunteers for specific events/needs within the district.
  • Reviewing background checks for all volunteers.
  • Providing all necessary training for volunteers.
  • Providing effective two-way communication between the district and volunteers.
  • Acknowledge contributions by volunteers that result in student success.

Oversee Partners in Education (PIE) program in ECISD including but not limited to: 

  • Recruitment of individual and business partners in the community to support campuses and various initiatives within the district.
  • Solicit incentives from local businesses to support student success.
  • Providing effective two-way communication between the district and our PIE.
  • Acknowledge contributions by partners that result in student and teacher success.

Oversee parent-teacher and booster club organizations including but not limited to: 

  • Serve as Chairman of the Communication Council for Parent-Teacher and Booster Organizations as stated in GE (Regulation).
  • Host an annual meeting with parent-teacher and booster organization representatives to explain District policies and procedures for operation.
  • Provide oversight and support to parent-teacher and booster club organizations operating in support of ECISD.
  • Serve as Chair of the Parent-Teacher and Booster Club Oversight Review Committee.
  • Provide training, as needed, to parent-teacher and booster club organizations.
    • Monitor required submissions from Parent-Teacher and Booster Organizations to ensure compliance with administrative regulations. Board policy, and applicable UIL or other governing body rules.

Serve as liaison between ECISD and the Odessa Chamber of Commerce for the Texas Scholars Program. As liaison duties include: 

  • Serve on the Texas Scholars Advisory Committee.
  • Participation in the annual Texas Scholar Agency Fair.
  • Promote the Texas Scholars program, and benefits, to ECISD students.
  • Share student volunteer opportunities with campuses and students.
  • Coordinate with participating campuses on the following:
  • Reporting of student hours each semester.
  • End-of-Year awards ceremony for students who have met program requirements.
  • Report student hours to Chamber as requested.

Oversee general grant writing on behalf of the district including but not limited to: 

  • Supervision of Grant Writer.
  • Research funding sources to meet the needs of the district.
  • Assist with writing grants on behalf of the district.
  • Provide training to district employees as needed for grant writing.
  • Post award support including but not limited to:
  • Continuation applications
  • Compliance
  • Communication with funders
  • Preparing reports to grant entities as requested.

Support District literacy efforts by supporting Little Free Libraries across ECISD. This includes but is not limited to: 

  • Filling libraries monthly with quality children’s literature.
  • Soliciting book donations to keep libraries stocked.
  • Reporting any damaged libraries for repair.
  • Maintaining Little Free Library database.
  • Promoting libraries.

 

Serve as liaison between ECISD and Donors Choose. As liaison duties include: 

  • Providing training to teachers on the district approved procedures for utilizing Donors Choose;
  • Monitoring teacher requests through Donors Choose;
  • Ensuring all donations are acknowledged as required by District policy.

Other Duties:

  • Develop collaborative relationships with district personnel and community agencies.
  • Acknowledge receipt of philanthropic donations to ECISD.
  • Maintain Department website.
  • Maintain Department social media sites (Facebook and Twitter).

Mental Demands/Physical Demands/Environmental Factors:

  • Work with frequent interruptions; maintain emotional control under stress; Repetitive hand motions; prolonged use of computer. Ability to lift heavy objects. Occasional prolonged and irregular hours.
