What are the responsibilities and job description for the CAD Designer position at Eck Industries Inc?
PRIMARY PURPOSE
Support our engineering team by creating detailed 3D models and 2D drawings of castings, tooling, and fixtures using CAD software. In this role, you will collaborate with engineers to reverse engineer parts from 3D scans, develop fixture and tool designs, procure machined parts, and manage tooling build timelines.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Utilize CAD software to create detailed 3D models and 2D drawings of castings, tooling, and fixtures.
- Work closely with engineers to reverse engineer tooling and parts from 3D scans.
- Develop fixture and tool designs to support production and quality improvements.
- Generate accurate technical drawings and documentation for manufacturing and procurement purposes.
- Collaborate with outside machine shops and vendors to source machined components.
- Conduct design reviews and make necessary revisions based on feedback from the engineering team.
QUALIFICATIONS & SKILLS
- Associates degree or equivalent experience in Mechanical Design, Drafting, or a related field.
- Proficiency in 3D CAD software (SolidWorks)
- Experience with reverse engineering and working with 3D scan data.
- Understanding of GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing) and machining processes.
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and blueprints.
- Strong problem-solving skills with keen attention to detail.
- Experience working with outside machine shops and vendors is a plus.
- Effective communication and ability to work in a team-oriented environment.
