What are the responsibilities and job description for the Housing and Community Standards Specialist position at Eckerd College?
As the Housing and Community Standards Specialist, you will provide administrative support for the College's Housing Office and Office of Community Standards. The position uses and updates databases and other software systems related to both housing and student conduct, and assists with a variety of tasks including responding to inquiries, making room assignments, managing conduct cases, and developing training.
The role requires the incumbent to possess a high degree of skill in interpersonal communication, specifically in active and empathetic listening. The coordinator must be adept at fostering student development within the context of a population inclusive of racial, ethnic, cultural, and sexual differences as it relates to policy enforcement. The incumbent will need to maintain confidentiality and exhibit professionalism and maturity in handling sensitive information and student interactions. The role is responsible for managing databases, maintaining confidential records, and preparing and tracking case files.

Assist the Director of Housing in responding to student inquiries regarding campus housing.
Maintain up-to-date housing software programs (Banner and StarRez).
Create marketing tools for Housing and Residence Life.
Assist with room assignments for incoming and returning students and maintenance of the campus housing database.
Maintain and process student Withdrawal and College Leave paperwork.
Utilize the student conduct software system to review and manage incident reports of community standards violations.
Assist with the development of, and participate in, ongoing community standards trainings and workshops for staff, faculty, and students.
Assist with advising, training, and supervising the Student Community Standards Board (SCSB).
Assist with the preparations for conduct hearings.
Serve as a resource for on-campus and off-campus agencies regarding student conduct history.
Assist in the implementation of division-wide events such as Autumn Term programs, Family Weekend, Prospective Student Weekend, and Commencement.
Qualifications
High School Diploma or equivalency and two or more years of relevant experience.
