Job Title: Mechanical/Turnaround Planner – Turnaround Project Team
Reports To: Turnaround Tools Coordinator
Job Overview:
The Mechanical Planner will be a key member of the Turnaround (TAR) Management Team, responsible for mechanical TAR planning and supporting secondary discipline planning. The primary function of this role is to ensure that turnaround planning is prepared and executed in alignment with the site's turnaround objectives.

Responsibilities:
Planning Phase:
- Attend core team meetings as required.
- Collaborate with Operations and Core Team disciplines to ensure job plans align with site policies, procedures, guidelines, and technical rules.
- Analyze detailed planning information from previous TARs.
- Participate in scope definition with a focus on mechanical activities (equipment inspections, repairs, and capital projects).
- Propose alternative scope options to meet the same objectives where advantageous.
- Develop job plans using the planning tool according to guidelines set by lead planners, planning coordinators, and the TAR manager.
- Plan capital project execution activities as defined by the TAR and Construction Managers.
- Request secondary discipline (I&E, rotating equipment) planning support as needed.
- Support secondary discipline planning for I&E and rotating equipment jobs.
- Coordinate with I&E, Electrical, and Operations Planners on scope development, isolations, work planning, PPE, and permitting requirements.
- Provide infrastructure and facilities summaries to the Logistics Coordinator for long-lead deliveries.
- Ensure contractors understand mechanical work packages.
Execution Phase:
- Execution Coordinator Role:
- Interface with Execution Contractor to organize and conduct daily work, including safety and quality oversight.
- Provide daily progress updates to the Turnaround Management Team.
- Attend daily execution meetings and interpret scheduling data.
- Ensure scheduling deliverables are met during execution.
- Capture job plan deficiencies and improvement ideas.
- Provide contractors with necessary documentation.
- Document daily findings and events with notes and photographs.
- Discovery Planner Role:
- Follow the Discovery Work Process to ensure discovery work and scope changes are added to the schedule.
- Plan discovery work, including estimating, materials, and service procurement.
- Capture job plan deficiencies and improvement ideas.
Post Turnaround Phase:
- Provide input for contractor evaluations.
- Collaborate with Execution Contractors to complete post-TAR work.
- Evaluate and improve repetitive job plans for future work.
- Review work processes and deliverables, documenting lessons learned for future turnarounds.
- Participate in post-TAR critiques and provide scheduling improvement insights.
- Archive planning details, daily notes, photos, and other documentation.
