ENGINEER INTERN WITH CONSTRUCTION EXPERIENCE
Job summary
Performs a full range of engineering functions : analyzing, troubleshooting, existing condition assessment, planning, engineering studies, scope of work development, cost estimates, review of design and construction documents, and review of project schedules. Prepares plans and specifications for construction, maintenance, and repair projects. The purposes of this work are to ensure the continued health, safety, and welfare of the public and to serve as the first line of quality assurance.
Essential job functions
Attends project meetings and prepares meeting minutes.
Design
Prepares Plans and Specifications according to scope of work.
Performs design calculations as needed.
Maintains project documents.
Coordinates with Client, Sub Consultants, Utility companies, etc.
Prepares complete bid packages.
Essential job functions Inspection
Assists in preparing pre-inspection packages consisting of analysis, scope of work development, and cost estimates.
Coordinates field inspections to assess existing conditions.
Creates and edits reports for construction, maintenance, and repair projects.
Organizes and plans daily tasks to ensure efficient use of time resources.
Collects, organizes, and maintains documents associated with assigned inspection activities, including adverse weather, time / material reports and photo records.
Submits required daily reports and written / oral presentations to supervisor.
Ensures that the work being performed and inspected meets the minimum requirements of applicable codes and ordinances.
Manages projects with a varying range of tasks.

Solve practical problems where only limited standardization exists.
Read blueprints, specifications and maps. Keep as-built records, punch lists items, and time & material reports.

Operate CAD software, primarily AutoCAD.

Education
B.S. in Engineering from an Accredited University
Experience
Minimum 3-5 years Engineering experience
License / Certification
P.E. License preferred / E.I. license minimum

Physical demands
Occasional Field Work may require the ability to stand for extended periods of time, walk on uneven surfaces, touch, handle, and / or feel, reach with hands and arms, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crawl, taste, smell, and lift up to 50 pounds; regularly required to talk and hear. Specific vision abilities include close, distance, color, peripheral vision, and the ability to adjust focus.
Work Environment
Daily office environment with occasional field work. Field work may include varying temperatures, high noise levels, etc.
