Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and knowledgeable Safety Coordinator to join our team. The ideal candidate will play a crucial role in promoting and ensuring a safe work environment across our construction sites. This position requires expertise in safety regulations, risk management, and compliance management, particularly in relation to OSHA standards and workers' compensation. The Safety Coordinator will be responsible for developing safety programs, conducting training sessions, and ensuring adherence to safety protocols.
Responsibilities
- Develop, implement, and maintain safety policies and procedures in accordance with OSHA regulations and industry best practices.
- Conduct regular safety audits and inspections of construction sites to identify hazards and ensure compliance with safety standards.
- Provide training to employees on safety practices, emergency procedures, and the proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE).
- Collaborate with project managers to integrate safety measures into construction management processes.
- Investigate accidents and incidents to determine root causes and recommend corrective actions.
- Maintain accurate records of safety inspections, incidents, and training sessions.
- Stay updated on changes in regulations related to occupational health and safety.
- Assist in the development of risk management strategies to minimize workplace hazards.
Requirements
- Proven experience in a safety coordinator or similar role within the construction industry.
- Strong knowledge of OSHA regulations, workers' compensation laws, and compliance management practices.
- Familiarity with construction management software and tools used for tracking safety compliance.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to train employees effectively on safety protocols.
- Strong analytical skills for assessing risks and implementing effective solutions.
- Ability to work collaboratively with various stakeholders including project managers, site supervisors, and workers on-site.
- Relevant certifications in occupational health or safety (e.g., Certified Safety Professional (CSP), Occupational Health & Safety Technician (OHST)) are preferred but not required.
