Job Overview : ECM is reshaping the future of electric motor technology and has several exciting full-time Mechanical Engineering opportunities available. In this role, you will assist with new customer application inquiries, research and development, prototype design and new product launches. You will also contribute to design validation testing, cost reductions / value engineering, and manufacturing improvements through collaboration with ECM’s software programmers, sales, engineering and quality teams; and suppliers and customers. This position will research, develop, model, implement, test, and evaluate new design concepts as well as design changes for existing products. Your efforts will result in high value integrated products that provide ECM customers with a competitive advantage in their products and markets.
Key Responsibilities :
- Work directly with customers to understand product requirements and participate in customer interface process. Support other departments and customers by addressing technical questions under general design guidelines.
- Design 3D models and drawings; manufacture, assemble, and test prototypes for new products.
- Perform research and development, create design proposals for motors that meet product performance, cost, and other customer requirements. Analyze requirements to determine feasibility of design and cost analysis.
- Perform various analyses such as application sizing related to motors, controllers, power flow and efficiency.
- Participate in laboratory testing of prototype systems including performance measurement, design validation, system tuning and modifications.
- Assist with the generation of testing procedure documentation as well as test reports.
- Work with members of machining, production, and engineering to solve problems associated with design and manufacturing of products.
- Assist with continuous improvement projects to increase overall production efficiency.
