Job Summary - Dental Assistant Program Chair

Are you looking to take your leadership experience, expertise as a Dental Assistant and passion for education to the next level? If so the role of program chair will answer that call. In this position you are responsible for leading the Dental Assistant program within the campus. Hiring and leading faculty, ensuring student attendance, retention and successful completion. Leading through change within a fast fast paced environment and adhering compliance guidelines. Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Ensure there are adequate faculty, course offerings, and facilities and equipment to accommodate the needs of the students within the program
  • Schedule faculty assignments in accordance with company, state, and accreditation guidelines
  • Coordinate and assist in the implementation of a retention plan and oversight of student retention within the Dental Assistant Program, meeting retention rates in accordance with institution, accreditation and company attrition goals
  • Maintain students' records, including attendance time sheets, and ensure all assignments are competed and meet the requirements as determined by the current course
  • Provide support and additional coverage for the available open teaching assignments and/or other positions as necessary
  • Pursue ongoing formal training designed to maintain and upgrade professional, instructional and administrative capabilities
  • Hire and train new staff as needed to support program
  • Attend campus meetings and functions and assist with graduation ceremonies
  • Manage multiple projects concurrently and adjust to fluctuating priorities
  • Maintain current requirements, training/professional development, licensures and certifications as required by the Faculty Credentials and Qualifications Handbook and to meet professional practice requirements
  • Maintain a flexible work schedule with the ability to work in a fast-paced environment
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Required Qualifications:

  • Minimum of HS Diploma or GED AND diploma or certificate in dental assisting
  • 3 years related practical work experience in the area of dental assisting post degree
  • Current and unrestricted CDA, EFDA or EDDA in the state of position
  • Must complete the CPR/BLS certification training within 60 days of hire
  • 2 years leadership and/or teaching experience
  • Experience utilizing Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook
  • Experience managing multiple projects concurrently and adjust to fluctuating priorities

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Associates degree in dental assisting
  • Experience teaching or leading in a blended education environment
  • Experience hiring/interviewing staff
  • Experience in a Program Chair or education leadership role
