Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Safely and efficiently operating small/midsize/large heavy equipment such as excavators, bulldozers, backhoes, skip loaders, forklifts, mechanized trenchers, etc., for various construction projects involving demolition, earthwork, and underground utilities.
- Performing pre- and post-operation inspections of heavy equipment in accordance with standard safety and company policy measures.
- Monitoring and maintaining equipment, as needed throughout operation, to ensure proper performance and safety and to avoid down time.
- Working closely with and under the direction of a crew lead/foreman/superintendent.
- Performing general labor tasks, as needed, to support projects when operating heavy equipment is halted.
- Ensuring that all field procedures and safety protocols are followed in compliance with company- and client-specific requirements.
- Reporting to job sites as directed. Travel and work at remote locations requiring out-of-town stays for periods of a few days to several weeks at a time may be required.
- Certification/ 2 years of verifiable heavy equipment operating experience. Pay commensurate with knowledge, capabilities, and experience and skills on various types of equipment.
- General equipment maintenance and repair knowledge required to assess and address malfunctions.
- Sound decision-making and problem-solving skills.
- Effective verbal communication and comprehension skills.
- Consistent professionalism and positivity.
- Ability and willingness to work effectively in a team environment.
- Valid California Driver’s License with a clean driving record.
- Ability to pass pre-employment and annual physicals, including alcohol/drug screening.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- HAZWOPER 40-hour training preferred.
