Job Title: Wind Technician
Location: St. Paul, MN 55110
Duration: Long Term
Pay Rate: BOE
Shift:
- Hours – typical work hours are 7 AM to 2:30 PM Monday through Friday with a 1/2-hour lunch break.
- Possible to be on a 2nd shift 2 PM to 10:30 PM Monday through Friday with a 1/2-hour lunch break.
- Periodic evening, weekend and holiday work may be required, subject to project scope and customer hours.
WIND TECHNICIAN
Field Service Technicians to work on Wind generators up-tower throughout the US.
Job Responsibilities & Expectations
- Replace up tower generator bearings and collector rings
- Replace up tower generator wye rings and rotor shaft leads
- Perform inspection, testing, repairs, major component bearing changing experience on wind turbine generators and related wind farm equipment up to 13.2kV.
- Perform removal and replacement of generators, gearboxes, rotor assemblies, blade assemblies and auxiliary motors.
- Troubleshoot and diagnose electrical, mechanical or hydraulic components and equipment on wind turbines and related wind farm equipment
- Perform predictive and preventive maintenance using technologies such as, lubrication, insulation resistance, surge testing, vibration analysis, dynamic electrical testing, etc.
- Perform root cause analysis to identify equipment faults or problems, and to actively help develop solutions for corrective actions
Minimum Qualifications - to qualify for consideration, you must meet each of the following minimum qualifications and requirements:
- At least 3 years related experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent; Associate’s degree or Certification as a Wind Turbine Technician is a plus.
- Ability to read drawings, prints & schematics and use multi-meters, amp clamps and basic electrical test equipment & torque tools.
- Able to climb and work on towers at or above 260 feet.
- Must have knowledge of electrical testing at 480V (4160V is a plus).
- Basic computer skills.
- Good written and verbal skills.
- Must be able to fluently read, write, and speak English. (Bilingual in Spanish is a plus).
- Must be able to lift up to 75 lbs., walk, climb, reach, kneel, crawl, and balance; ; stand and work in one place for extended periods, have excellent finger dexterity, good hand/eye coordination, and good eyesight including ability to see spatially (with or without reasonable accommodations); must be able to pass a fit for duty physical exam.
- Must be able to pass a pre-employment drug/alcohol test and periodic, random drug/alcohol tests.
- Must have a valid driver’s license, and currently have and be able to maintain a good driving record.
- Must be able to pass a pre-employment criminal background check.
- Must be willing to travel for extended periods throughout North America (minimum 40% of the time).
WORK ENVIRONMENT
Work Schedule (subject to change)
- Possible to be on extended shift, including periodic evening, weekend and holiday work, subject to project scope and customer hours.
- Overtime – regular overtime should be expected, with occasional long weeks to meet production demands.
Working Conditions:
- Wearing proper personal protective equipment is required.
- The work is performed generally in a remote open field (such as wind farm) environment.
Job Type: Contract
Pay: $21.08 - $22.26 per hour
