Overview
The Family Support Worker plays a vital role in assisting families in navigating challenges related to child welfare and behavioral health. This position involves working closely with families to provide support, resources, and guidance to promote healthy family dynamics and ensure the well-being of children. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in social work or related fields and possess skills in crisis intervention and conflict management.

Duties

  • Provide direct support to families facing various challenges, including crisis situations.
  • Conduct assessments to identify the needs of children and families, developing tailored support plans.
  • Facilitate access to community resources such as childcare services, mental health support, and educational programs.
  • Collaborate with other professionals, including social workers, educators, and healthcare providers, to coordinate comprehensive care for families.
  • Offer guidance on family law issues and navigate child protective services when necessary.
  • Implement crisis management strategies to address immediate concerns affecting family stability.
  • Maintain accurate documentation of interactions and progress towards goals set with families.
  • Engage in ongoing training and professional development to enhance skills related to child welfare and behavioral health.

Experience
Candidates should possess the following skills and experience:

  • Proven experience working with children and families in a supportive role.
  • Strong knowledge of child welfare systems, including child protective services.
  • Background in social work or a related field is preferred.
  • Skills in crisis intervention and management are essential.
  • Familiarity with behavioral health principles is beneficial.
  • Experience in conflict management techniques to effectively resolve family disputes.
  • Understanding of family law as it pertains to child custody and welfare issues.
  • Previous childcare experience is a plus.
