ECDI is looking for a Grants Officer I for our Columbus headquarters
The Grants Officer I works with Development leadership on developing and implementing ECDI’s development and fundraising strategies. They will maintain relationships with funders, investors, and partners who include foundations, banks, and corporations. They will work with program staff to develop programs and services and oversee projects through the grants lifecycle. The Grants Officer I role will focus heavily on annual projects and projects under $50,000, and provide support for team members working on larger projects. A critical aspect of the job is to seek out new opportunities for funding and to bring innovative ideas forward for consideration by Development leadership.
This position is a hybrid role with required time spent in-office, according to manager direction and business need.
The starting annual salary range for this position is $53,000-$65,000. Candidates for this position must be located in the Central Ohio Area.
Responsibilities:
Development Responsibilities:
- Work with Development team members to develop grant budgets and narrative justifications to accompany grant proposals.
- Submit final drafts of projects according to deadlines.
- Create task lists and enforce internal deadlines.
- Collaborate with program and department leads to develop and implement new programing.
- Manage own pipeline of grants, including researching, writing, managing, and submitting deadline-driven funding proposals.
- Review grant contracts and advise program staff of requirements.
- Assist in the development of Grants Management policies and procedures.
- Maintain database for the management of funder and prospect records.
- Manage funding proposals from application to submittal of Requests for Proposals (RFPs) with support from team members, ensuring all components of the RFP get buy-in, are met, and are understood by Fiscal and program leads.
- Assist other departments with development of annual Impact Report, marketing and events, and partnership and potential funder development and engagement.
- Maintain a positive working relationship with vendors, co-workers, and referral sources to encourage referral relationships.
Reporting Responsibilities:
- Produce and submit reports to funders.
- Assist with managing ECDI’s investor and grant reporting.
- Maintain schedule of grant opportunities.
- Assist with Development Reports for Board of Directors.
Other Responsibilities:
- Maintain accurate files, documents, and profiles for necessary paper files and in appropriate tracking systems.
- Maintain a thorough working knowledge of and adhere to all ECDI policies and procedures.
- Participate in meetings and provide suggestions for improvement for the department.
- Perform other related activities, as required, to assure department and organizational success.
Minimum Qualifications:

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities:
- Ability to think creatively and execute innovative ideas.

- Skill in developing, interpreting, communicating, and implementing grantee/funder regulatory compliance.
- Computer Skills:
- Experience with and knowledge of computer operation
- Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, etc.).
- Proficient understanding of database or CRM systems preferred.
- Comprehensive knowledge of standard office practices, procedures, equipment, and techniques.
Education and/or Experience:
- Associate’s degree in business, public administration, finance, or communications preferred AND two to three (2-3) years of experience in a similar role; OR high school diploma or G.E.D. plus
- equivalent number of years relevant work experience.
- Experience in grant writing, proposal writing, or research-based reporting strongly preferred.
- Success with working in a multi-ethnic environment that supports diversity.
- Donor relations experience a plus.
Special Requirements:
- Occasional after hours and travel required.
- Must be available to work additional hours during busy seasons.
Other:
- This position is a hybrid role with required time spent in-office, according to manager direction and business need.
- Must have access to transportation in order to travel to and from the office and to training and offsite meetings.
- Typically, the employee must be able to remain in a stationary position 50% or more of the time. The person in this position will occasionally move about inside the office to access file cabinets, office machinery, etc., and operate a computer and other office productivity machinery such as a copy machine and computer printer.
- Positions self to move items up to 15 pounds, such as printer paper boxes across the office as needed.
- Must avoid risks found in the typical office setting, which is adequately lighted, heated, and ventilated, e.g., safe use of office equipment, avoiding trips and falls, observing fire regulations, etc.
