HEAD START
PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT COORDINATOR
The Professional Development Coordinator is under the direct supervision of the Head Start Deputy Executive Director. The Professional Development Coordinator will also work in collaboration with the Human Resources Director and Head Start Education Manager to, ensure that all staff professional development credentials, tasks and responsibilities are in compliance and monitored on a consistent basis. Additional job role and responsibilities will include but are not limited to the following:
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Assess Head Start staff current credentials. If staff does not have the required credential; examine if the staff is currently enrolled in a program/course, the name of the institution, number of credit hours required to obtain the desired degree/ certification and the number of relevant credit hours completed to date.
- Involve staff in individual conferences/meetings with the EOC Professional Development Coordinator to;
- Assist staff in identifying strengths and needs while they set individual self-identified short- and long-term career goals/plans.
- Discuss methods and time-frames for meeting the individual's professional development goals and assess how their decisions will impact ongoing required staff development and job retention.
- Discuss and make needed recommendations on whether or not the staff's plan is feasible and addresses job-related requirements
- Provide ongoing follow-up and 30-60-90-day assessments on staff progress towards goal completion
- Consistently motivate and support staff that are in pursuit of their education /career goals as required and/or requested.
- Work with Data Entry Clerk and/or Records Clerk to ensure implementation of electronic records using the ChildPlus database to record data; which will consist of inventory of training(s), attendance, inventory of staff credentials and career development plans. Maintain the Head Start Staff Credential Compliance Inventory and review records systematically to ensure all staff meet Head Start Qualification Performance Standards.
- Coordinate and ensure the execution of Head Start staff maintaining on-line credentials in the NY Works for Children-ASPIRE registry database to comply with the QualityStarsNY-Quality Rating and Improvement System (ORIS) evaluation process.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Must be vaccinated
- Bachelor's degree or higher in Early Childhood Education or equivalent coursework preferred.
- Previous professional development/ career counseling experience preferred.
- High degree of computer knowledge.
- High-level of meticulous attention to detail and ability to work well under deadlines. MUST have excellent time management skills.
- Self-Starter; who is able to motivate and inspire staff to achieve their goals.
- Flexible and adaptable to changing priorities.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Excellent data entry, analysis skills, and customer service skills.
- Bilingual (Spanish) skills is a plus.
Job Type: Part-time
Pay: Up to $28.42 per hour
Schedule:
- Day shift
- Monday to Friday
